ODIE NOLA is a custom line of recycled, unisex embroidered clothing designed to shed light on historical untruths & recurrent issues affecting marginalized communities.
“ODIE” is an acronym for “Or Does It Explode,” a line from Langston Hughes' Harlem poem.
The focus of ODIE NOLA is to unlearn the lies history books taught us, and start a dialogue between the wearer and the questioner. By spreading radical truths through graphic messaging on clothing, ODIE NOLA intends to educate the misinformed through fashion in an assertive, accessible way— one piece at a time.
30% of each purchase goes toward local advocacy organizations focused on racial justice, mutual aid, or criminal justice reform in New Orleans.
ODIE NOLA is designed by Chloe, a mixed Black female artist based in New Orleans. All base clothing is sourced from local thrift stores and the messaging is embroidered in Chloe’s home “studio.”
ODIE NOLA would not be possible if it wasn’t for grassroots organizers, BIPOC/LGBTQI revolutionaries, ancestors, historians who dared to document the TRUTH, everyone who has used their art for the fight for liberation before me, & everyone who continues to support ODIE NOLA.
